Homemade Pizza Recipe

I love pizza. My homemade pizza recipe is an attempt at recreating the incredible pizza my Grandmother used to make.

Okay, I'm talking about my grandmother again, but she made the most delicious original Italian pizza I have ever had. The closest I have ever found to her pizza was in the italian section of Boston almost 30 years ago.

So, everytime I make a pizza, I am striving to recreate the memory of my grandmothers pizza. The crust is light and fluffy, about a 1/2 inch think. And the toppings are light, with taste in every bite.

I won't deceive you an tell you that I have achieved my grandmothers pizza. But, I will tell you that I think my homemade pizza recipe is getting close. And, most of the time, it is delicious. So now, I would like to show you how to make pizza.

I hope you like it.

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

2-3 Cloves Garlic - finely chopped

Salt and Pepper to taste

Olive Oil

Mozzarella Cheese

Tomato Sauce

Meat Toppings - Meatballs, Pork, Sausage

This is one of the areas where making homemade sauce and meatballs come in handy. I always set aside some meats and a couple of cups of sauce for a future pizza. Then, all I have to do is run to the store and pick up some dough and the mozzarella cheese.

Yes, sometimes I buy the dough. Okay, most of the time!

Warm your oven to 350 degrees.

Put a couple of tablespoons of olive oil on the pizza pan and spread evenly.

Place the dough on the pan, and spread it across the pan. You will be gently pulling the dough to widen it. The goal is to evenly cover the pan with the dough.

Cover the dough again with wax paper and let rise again.

After it has risen, take the chopped garlic and distribute it evenly over the dough. Then gently press each piece into the dough slightly.

Lightly salt and pepper the dough.

Then, carefully spread olive oil over the dough. Use a spoon to spread it evenly. Make sure all of it is "brushed" with oil.

Place the pan into your 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes.

After about 15 minutes, remove the pan from the oven, and with a fork, lift a corner of the dough from the bottom. If it has a golden look to it, it is ready for the next step. If not, place it back in the oven and check again in a few minutes.

At this stage, the dough should smell delicious, and you will be tempted to eat it. Do that another time, today we are making my homemade pizza recipe. :)

Right now is a good time to take a spatula and make sure your dough is not stuck to the pan.

Take your previously prepared meatballs, sausage and pork and slice into bite sized pieces.

Take the cheese and either shred or grate and spread it evenly on the pizza dough.

On top of the cheese, layer the meats.

Cover everything with a thin layer of sauce.

Do not put sauce on the edges.

Put it back into the oven to cook. This can take about 10-15 minutes. It will be done when the cheese appears melted.

Let it cool a little.

Cut the pizza into 2 x 2 squares and serve!
