Just a little about me.......

If I had to describe myself in one word, it would be thankful.

I am so thankful to be a mother.

I am thankful for my family and friends.

I am thankful that I still jump out of bed in the morning eager to start my day.

I've always loved to cook. I could pass on cleaning the dishes..... but I do like to cook. I'm always so happy when my son likes my food. I guess I am a very simple person.

Maybe it's the aroma, but there is something about food that can transport you. If I make something the way my mother does, I think of her. If I make something that my grandmother taught me, she is miraculously "in the kitchen" with me. One afternoon, my Aunt told me how to make breadcrumbs, and now, whenever I make them, I flash back to that afternoon at my cousin's party, where I was sitting with my Aunt.

Food nourishes in many ways.

Around my son's second birthday, I decided to compile my recipes for him. I wasn't sure he would want to learn how to cook when he was a teenager or in college, so I thought I would make him a manual with step by step pictures that would clearly show him what to do.

And the experience of building this website has been mind-opening. I think many people thought I was crazy to spend my time building this site. Here I am, a single mother, struggling to make ends meet in the middle of a recession, and everyday, even if only for a few moments, I am “working” on this site.

And when people would make comments to me, I just thought about how this labor of love was keeping me in a state of hope and positive energy. I was building something. Everyday it became better. Everyday I became smarter. I didn’t know where this road was going to bring me, but I knew I loved being on this road.

There are many roads to building websites. I luckily choose a road that gave me step by step instructions along with tremendous help and feedback and encouragement.

Anyway, step by step help is clearly something I resonate with. After all, look how I built my recipes! So please, don't be shy contacting me with questions or comments.

My one wish, I hope you will find at least one recipe that you will love to make. Maybe it can become your signature recipe. And with this recipe, I truly hope you see that you can learn new things, become empowered, make some beautiful memories, and most important, Eat Well, Save Money, and Be Happy!

All my best,

Antoinette
