Grandma's Homemade Fruit Cake Recipe

I have a box full of recipes. Some of the recipes (like this fruit cake recipe) are decades old. This past holiday season, I wanted to make something that my Grandmother used to make for my Father. I saw this fruit cake recipe and gave it a try. Oh my goodness, what a wonderful surprise! I'm going to always have this on hand.

It freezes really well, so it's a good thing to keep in the freezer, and when company drops by, just take it out, and it will taste like you just made it!

It's almost like a Banana Cake Recipe, as the banana taste is the strongest. It is absolutely one of the most pleasant homemade cake recipes you will ever make.

Ingredients

2 Bananas

1 Apple

1/2 Cup Raisons

Touch of Cinnamon

1 Cup Milk

3 Eggs

1 1/2 Cups Sugar

3 Teaspoon Baking Powder

1/2 Stick Butter or Margarine

3 Cups Flour

Fruit Cake Ingredients

Method

Cut and peel fruit in very small pieces.

Cook fruit in a pan with a low heat and a 1/2 cup milk.

Add a touch of cinnamon.

Cooked Fruit

In a bowl, beat together the eggs, sugar, baking powder, butter, flour, and a 1/2 cup milk.

Mix Fruit Cake Mix everything together.

Place in a greased and floured 9 x 9 baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes.

Stick a clean knife into the middle of the cake to make sure it is cooked.

You will know it is cooked if the knife comes out clean.

If there is batter on the knife when removed, put it back in the over for another 5 minutes, and try again.

Finished Fruit Cake Recipe
I drizzled a light frosting that I made from powered sugar. It was easy to whip up (powered sugar, butter, milk, vanilla). I have to admit, I normally like this cake without frosting, but something light was nice, and my son just ate it up!
