Nancy's Chili (with secret ingredient)

1 lb ground beef
1-28 oz can crushed tomatoes in puree
1-16 oz can tomatoes cut up
1-16oz can kidney beans (light or dark-your preference)
1/4 cup chili powder (yes that is correct, it is not too much)
1 c. chopped onion
1 large green pepper, chopped
dash of hot red pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/2 c beer (drink the rest while you are cooking)
salt & pepper to taste
Cook beef, onion, pepper and garlic in large pot. Drain.
Stir in beans, tomato products and all other ingredients. Simmer uncovered for 45 minutes
Top with cheddar cheese if you like. Enjoy!
